Preconstruction Engineer - Commercial Construction This is a rare opportunity to join a well-established and highly reputable commercial General Contractor. In business since the early 2000s, they have played a key role in shaping the local community. Their projects range from $10M to $60M across the healthcare, multifamily, hotel, commercial, and educational sectors. We are also open to considering candidates with more experience who may be seeking a role at a higher compensation range, who feel they are interested but would be taking a step back. Estimating Support Assist in quantity takeoffs and material estimates based on drawings and specifications. Input data into estimating software (e.g., On-Screen Takeoff , WinEst , ProEst ). Help assemble and update cost databases and historical pricing data. 2. Bid Coordination Issue bid invitations and follow up with subcontractors and vendors. Assist in collecting, reviewing, and organizing subcontractor and supplier quotes. Compare and level bids to ensure scope coverage and compliance. 3. Document Management Organize project documents such as drawings, specs, and addenda for the estimating team. Track revisions and updates during the preconstruction phase. Help prepare and format proposal packages and bid submissions. 4. Design Coordination Attend design meetings with architects, engineers, and clients to track updates. Help review design documents for constructability and budget alignment. Coordinate RFIs during design development. 5. Scheduling Input Support the development of preliminary schedules using tools like Primavera P6 or MS Project . Assist in identifying long-lead items and critical path activities. 6. Subcontractor & Vendor Engagement Research and prequalify subcontractors. Maintain an updated log of subcontractor contacts and bid history. Qualifications : Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field 2-5 years of experience in preconstruction, estimating, or related roles Proficient in reading drawings and doing quantity takeoffs Familiar with estimating tools (e.g., Bluebeam, PlanSwift, OST) and MS Excel Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills OSHA 10/30 or other relevant certifications a plus
