The Role:
We are hiring a Mechanical Superintendent to oversee the construction and mechanical installation phases of solar energy projects. This is a travel-based role supporting job sites across the region. You will be responsible for managing daily mechanical operations on site, supervising crews, ensuring safety and quality standards, and coordinating with project managers and engineers to keep projects on schedule and within budget.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead all mechanical field operations for solar installations
Coordinate daily staffing, workflows, and equipment requirements on site
Oversee racking, module installation, and system mechanical integration
Promote and enforce company and OSHA safety practices across all activities
Work closely with the electrical team, project managers, and subcontractors
Train and mentor site crews; manage performance and resolve issues
Maintain daily reports, quality checklists, and progress updates
Support procurement needs and material logistics at the job site
Enforce quality control standards; re punch lists and manage rework
Handle scheduling, work plans, and documentation related to site activities
Serve as a site representative to customers, vendors, and inspectors
Coordinate permitting and environmental documentation prior to construction
Lead the implementation of Coral Reef's QA/QC programs and racking certifications
Requirements:
5+ years of experience in mechanical construction or field supervision
Prior solar PV experience preferred; NABCEP and OSHA 30 certifications a plus
Strong knowledge of solar racking systems, site layout, and mechanical codes
Proven leadership experience managing crews in a fast-paced field environment
Ability to read blueprints, site plans, and interpret technical documents
Excellent planning, organization, and communication skills
Comfortable with roof access, heights, and physical outdoor work
Valid driver's license and willingness to travel regularly and stay overnight
Ability to lift 75 lbs and work extended hours in various weather conditions
