POSITION SUMMARY:
As a hands on member of the production team and reporting to the Operations Manager, the Production Supervisor will be responsible for managing the production team to achieve daily production objectives in accordance with project plans and quality requirements. The Production Supervisor will also be interface at the production level between clients, inspectors and other sub-contractors to PERMA-PIPE management either at PERMA-PIPE or on a job site. The Production Supervisor is also accountable for 1) the safety and the safety behavior of the employees they manage and 2) the safety of the workspaces they manage.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Safety
The Production Supervisor play an integral role in the Perma-Pipe Zero Incidents Safety Culture by:
Conveying the message to all employees that safety, quality and production are all equally important: All work tasks to be completed without injury or the possibility of injury, all tasks shall 100% conform to the customers and Perma-Pipes specifications and work instructions, and all tasks need to be completed efficiently and effectively.
Actively participating in the Perma-Pipe Safety Management System by:
Conducting scheduled safety inspections/audits and developing or directing the related corrective actions
Reviewing and training all employees on Hazard Level Assessments (HLA)/Job Safety Assessments (JSA) and assists in the development of this hazard assessments.
Reporting all injuries and near misses, and participating in injury/near miss investigations and the related corrective actions

Supervision
- Oversee execution of work in accordance with production and quality objectives
- Know, understand and follow company work instructions and procedures
- Communicate to and ensure adherence of company work instructions by team members
- Understand project specific requirements / plans and production schedules
- Co-ordinate and direct team member activities to effectively and efficiently achieve production / project requirements and schedules
- Maintain discipline by and ensure appropriate behavior of team members
- Interface with clients / inspectors / sub-contractors and distribute information to appropriate PERMA-PIPE personnel
- NOTE: The production supervisor may be part of a small site team and will be required to be hands on and capable of / required to perform all duties required of a general laborer, but on a less frequent basis.
Administration
- Maintain and distribute daily production logs / site reports
- Monitor and record daily time keeping for team members
- Complete production and quality forms
- Assist in reviewing / revising and implementing updated HSE or work instructions
- Performs other duties/ projects as assigned or as required by the position.
WORKING RELATIONSHIPS/REPORTING:
Responsible for direct supervision of employees in assigned area. Reports to Operations Manager
Qualifications
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
EDUCATION:
High School Diploma or GED
EXPERIENCE:
1 year manufacturing experience preferred
1 year supervisory experience preferred
QUALIFICATION/ REQUIREMENT:
Excellent time management, organization and prioritization skills, be detailed orientated, able to multi-task, able to work effectively in groups and individually, able to work effectively with senior managers and at the shop floor level, have excellent communication skills and problem solving skills.
General mechanical aptitude and ability is preferred
Clean valid drivers license required and capable of obtaining a chauffeur license
Proficiency in MS Office preferred
Capable of obtaining TWIC Card
- SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITES: Responsible for leading teams of people from 3 to 50
- TRAVEL: Travel within Louisiana / Texas and Alabama for periods of several months may be required
- EQUIPMENT TO BE USED: Must be capable of operating hand and power tools of all types and capable of learning to operate production processing equipment. Must be able to operate computer and other office machines as the job requires.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: This position is very active and the employee must be capable of standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day. Must be able to frequently lift and/or move items over 75 pounds. Must be physically capable of working in external and / or open air environments in Louisiana / Texas and Alabama.
Occasional office work requires manual agility sufficient to operate standard office machines such as computers, fax, calculator, telephone, and other office equipment.
Requires normal range of hearing and vision.
MENTAL DEMANDS: Must handle diverse work problems on a daily basis. Must be able to resolve problems, handle conflict and make effective decisions under pressure. Must relate and interact with people at all levels in the Company.
WORKING CONDITIONS: Frequent travels to customer sites; 80% based on the production floor or outdoors at a client site. This position may require to work overtime on an as needed basis.
