SMMA is seeking a Intern to join our Mechanical Design team, a talented group of designers and problem solvers. This position involves assisting engineers in all phases of building project mechanical design. The candidate will be active throughout projects' full lifecycles, from concept design to final construction documents, and during construction administration.
Given SMMA's integrated and multidisciplinary composition, the role affords a chance to coordinate and work closely with staff across numerous areas of design expertise and provides exposure to a variety of project and client types.

Key Responsibilities:
Assist in the calculation of building heating, cooling, or ventilation requirements using Carrier's Hourly Analysis Program (HAP)
Assist in the selection of HVAC equipment with support from senior mechanical engineering staff.
Assist in the field survey of existing building HVAC conditions.
Prepare HVAC drawings with support and supervision of senior mechanical engineering staff utilizing Autodesk Revit Building Information Modelling (BIM) Software.
Observe construction with support and supervision of senior mechanical engineering staff.
Qualifications:
In the process of completing a Mechanical or Architectural Engineering or Engineering Technology degree
Experience in Mechanical or Architectural Engineering concurrent with academic coursework.
Completion of Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) examination a plus
Experience with Revit, AutoCAD, Load Calculation Software (Carrier HAP) and Microsoft Office
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to climb ladders, use a tape measure, and possess a valid driver's license are a plus.
