Position Summary & Responsibilities:
Position Summary:
- Serves as the project manager with design and construction Contractors on multi-million-dollar construction, maintenance and repair projects on Kansas Air National Guard properties. Buildings are constantly being remodeled and upgraded. Projects must be managed daily to assure construction is following specifications and regulations. Project books and electronic files are required for each project. Project books may be reviewed by Auditors at any time and must contain all critical information regarding the project.
Design: Designs in House projects which are likely to be under $300,000 and typically do not require more than 20 drawing sheets. Incumbent will coordinate with end Users and develop a cost estimate, Statement of Work and Auto Cad drawings as required to advertise the project to Contractors
Development: Coordinates meetings with Users and Architect and Engineering firm to develop project books. Reviews and evaluates plans and specifications including Type A and Type B Design. Review 15%, 65%, 95% and 100% drawing plans and specifications for content and accuracy.
Conferences: Attends pre-bid conferences to brief potential Contractors on scope of work, drawings and specifications of the project. Attend contract award and pre-construction meetings. Schedule and attend progress meetings for the project.
Material Submissions: Reviews material submissions to make timely recommendations for approval or disapproval.

Requests for Information: Coordinates Requests for Information from Contractors which cover unforeseen conditions or clarifications required to the project specifications or drawings.
Change Orders: Coordinates contract modifications which may include revised drawings, statements of work, cost estimates and funding documents
Field Inspections: Performs field and final inspections of assigned and co-workers projects to ensure code and contractual compliance. Field inspections may require exposure to inclement weather and hazardous site conditions. Maintains daily log of project progression and site conditions.
Project Files: Maintains comprehensive electronic and hard copies of files on each project.
Budget: Reviews pay applications to assure Contractors claims for completed work and materials are on site and are accurate. Maintains electronic and hard copies of financial transactions in project files. Submits funding requests as required.
Other: Performs other related duties as assigned to meet the organizational needs.
Qualifications
- Education: High School or GED Equivalency
Minimum Qualifications:
- Knowledge of engineering techniques, their application and related physical and mathematical sciences. Computer Requirements: Must be familiar with Microsoft Office Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
Knowledgeable in AutoCAD. Able to manipulate and modify drawings. 3D knowledge is not required.
Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment while completing numerous jobs/projects/tasking's varying in complexity.
Preferred Qualifications:
- BS Degree in Construction Management or Engineering or 10 years training and or technical experience in construction management. Four years of construction management or engineering technology education and or 10 years' experience in construction or construction management or civil engineering. Knowledgeable in design, drafting and estimating projects.
Required:
- Must have a valid Driver's License and the ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense Security Clearance as a Condition of Employment.
