REPORTS TO: OSM Supervisor/On-Site Foreman/Shipyard Superintendent
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES: Safely and efficiently perform machine labor for equipment and machinery common to maritime vessels and/or general industry, including but not limited to pumps, valves, winches, and gearboxes. Have an aggressive work ethic with a focus on production.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & TASKS:
- Ability to apply basic machine shop math
- Demonstrate layout proficiency
- Disassembles various types of equipment and machinery
- Proficient at setting up and operation of drill presses
- Perform overhaul, maintenance, and testing of pumps, valves, turbines, condensers, shafts, rudders, and winches
- Set up and operate portable machining tools; proper care for and safely use hand and power tools
- All other duties as assigned based on operational needs
KNOWLEDGE:
- Experience with troubleshooting and repairing various mechanical equipment, including ANSI pumps, various types of compressors, blowers, fans, gearboxes, and mixers
- Experience installing below-deck auxiliaries, such as evaporators, heaters, pumps, condensers, and connecting them to the proper equipment
- Experience in the removal, repair, and modification or overhaul of various types of marine shipboard equipment and systems such as valves, pumps, hydraulics, turbines, reduction gears, generators, anchor windlass and steering gears
- Experience reading and understanding blueprints, sketches, and templates
- Experience with manual and semi-automatic welding procedures
- Familiar with industry codes and regulations
- Safe use of all tools and equipment
- Work independently and with teams

WORK HOURS: 40-50 hours per week. Standard 8-hour shifts on a 5-day work week with overtime. Candidates may be asked to work weekends. Normal hours are Monday-Friday.
- Day Shift: 6:00am to 2:30pm or 3:30pm based on operational needs.
Requirements
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- All types of physical movement are required for this position to successfully perform the essential functions.
- Ability to use upper and lower extremities.
- Ability to work outside in heat, inclement weather, and cold.
- Ability to crawl, kneel, crouch, climb, and bend around and under equipment, on ladders up to 24' at heights up to 70', stairs, scaffolds, through small accesses, enter inside of tanks, and confined spaces, through hatches, and manholes throughout much of the work shift.
- Occasionally lift/move up to 75 pounds.
- Able to work over bodies of water.
MENTAL REQUIREMENTS: Normal level of visual acuity needed. Must be able to understand and follow directions. Normal hearing level needed. Hand-eye coordination required.
HAZARDS: Weather, fumes, high noise levels, moving mechanical parts, equipment, and vibration.

- Monday - Friday
- Day Shift: 6:00am - 2:30pm
Overtime and Weekend required based on business needs
