Job Summary

Responsible to the assigned supervisor for performing intermediate level engineering work activities and projects requiring the application of engineering knowledge in a safe, effective, efficient and economic accomplishment of assigned objectives.

** This position will be full-time in office (either Tulsa, OK or Corpus Christi, TX)**

Job Description

What You'll Do:

Position is an engineering role within the Transmission Planning Modeling team. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Accurately model transmission system topology including impedance and facility ratings for lines, generators, and transformers for Medium, High, and Extra High Voltages using AEP-internal modeling database, PSS/E, and/or ASPEN OneLiner.

  • Fulfill various system modeling related requests from Engineering and Operations personnel and submitted via ServiceNow ticketing system.

  • Collaborate with others internal/external to the team to model planned projects, build power flow, and short circuit model cases representing the future transmission system, as needed.

  • Participate in the planning and organization of project work activities.

  • Perform electrical transmission system analysis and protection system studies, as requested.

  • Perform activities related to NERC Compliance standards.

  • Apply problem solving skills to resolve technical problems and initiate solution techniques.

** Electrical Engineering or Engineering Technologist degree/experience strongly preferred**

Engineer Associate - Grade 5:

($61,647.00 - $77,057)

This is an entry level position for new graduates with a Bachelor's degree in engineering in a program accredited by ABET*

  • Passing the Fundamentals of Engineering examination in preparation for future licensing as a Professional Engineer (PE) is encouraged and preferred.

Engineer - Grade 6:

( $72,380 - $90,475

  • Has typically acquired 2 or more years of related engineering experience along with a Bachelor's degree in engineering in a program accredited by ABET*.

  • Individuals with a Master's degree in engineering from an engineering program accredited by ABET* may be considered for entry into the organization at this level.

Engineer - Grade 7:

( $85,081 - $106,354 )

  • Has typically acquired 4 or more years of related engineering experience along with a Bachelor's degree in engineering in a program accredited by ABET*; or 2 years of related engineering experience along with a Masters degree in engineering from a program accredited by ABET* .

  • Individuals with a PhD in engineering from an engineering program accredited by ABET* may be considered for entry into the organization at this level.

  • Registration as a Professional Engineer (PE) in any U.S. state or Puerto Rico** is encouraged and preferred.

Engineer Senior - Grade 8:

($ 96,110.00 - $124,941.00 )

  • Has typically acquired 6 or more years of related engineering experience along with a Bachelor's degree in engineering in a program accredited by ABET*; or 4 years of related engineering experience along with a Master's degree or PhD in engineering from a program accredited by ABET*

  • Registration as a Professional Engineer (PE) in any U.S. state or Puerto Rico** is encouraged and preferred.

Engineer Principal - Grade 9:

( $112,869 - $146,730 )

  • Has typically acquired 8 or more years of related engineering experience along with a Bachelor's degree in engineering in a program accredited by ABET*; or 6 years of related engineering experience along with a Master's or PhD in engineering from a program accredited by ABET.

  • Registration as a Professional Engineer (PE) in any U.S. state or Puerto Rico** is preferred for this position unless approval to waive this requirement is given by the organization's EVP.

Acceptable ABET alternative is:

  • A Bachelor's degree in engineering (non-ABET) plus a Master's degree or PhD in engineering from a university with an ABET accredited Bachelor's program.* Confirmation is preferred to ensure the PE obtained in Puerto Rico aligns with NCEES standards.

**VP or above may waive the requirement for a degree from a university with an ABET accredited program
