The Tactical Space Systems Division is seeking an entry to mid-level Mechanical Engineer to assist an experienced team of mechanical engineers to perform mechanical, systems, and design engineering on one or more spacecraft systems or subsystems. This position is located in Gilbert, AZ .
The Mechanical Engineer will work on all spacecraft structures and mechanical hardware from requirements all the way through integration and test. The candidate will perform detailed design tasks using Computer Aided Design (CAD) and other software tools to develop and document designs for manufacturing and ultimately assembly into spacecraft. The role involves interfacing and communicating with customers, program and functional management, other spacecraft engineering disciplines, and component suppliers. Skills include, but not limited to, Computer Aided Design (CAD), knowledge and application of Geometric Dimension and Tolerancing (GD&T), Design for Manufacturing, Mechanics of Metallic / Composite Materials, Stress Calculations, and Spacecraft Component Layout.
Basic Qualifications:
This position may be performed at a level Engineer 2 or Principal Engineer 3.
Basic Qualifications for an Mechanical Engineer 2:
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field with 2+ years of relevant industry experience or a Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field with 0+ years of relevant industry experience.
- Must be a US Citizen with the ability to obtain a government clearance.
Basic Qualifications for Principal Mechanical Engineer 3:
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field with 5+ years of relevant industry experience or a Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field with 3+ years of relevant industry experience.
- Must be a US Citizen with the ability to obtain a government clearance.
Preferred Qualifications for both levels:
- Have an overall cumulative GPA from Bachelor's and Master's (if applicable) degrees of 3.5 out of 4.0 or higher.
- Experience with 3D CAD model-based software (specifically Creo Parametric).
- Practice in making and reviewing engineering drawings with GD&T in 2D and 3D MBDs.
- Experience with 3D Printing, Design for Manufacturing, and hands-on hardware fabrication.
- Experience in satellite and spacecraft structures design.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills.
