Description

Position Summary: Repairs, maintains, and troubleshoots all residentia, commercial, and industrial HVAC equipment, and other key equipment across campus.

Essential Functions (with Key Responsibilities)

  • Troubleshoot, repair and maintain HVAC equipment, steam boilers, and water-cooled chillers.
  • Install, repair and maintain motors, transformers, generators, lights, appliances, circuits, wiring, and other electrical system equipment and components in compliance with electrical codes, standards, and regulations.
  • Operate a variety of electrical testing equipment in determining electrical malfunctions.
  • Repair and maintain plumbing fixtures and other general maintenance
  • Manage inventory of parts and supplies.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Director of Facilities and Security.

Qualifications

Required/Preferred Skills

  • Knowledge of HVAC equipment, gauges, meters, reclaimer and other HVAC equipment.
  • Knowledge of gas boilers and centrifugal chillers and their operation.
  • Able to remove and install new residential and commercial HVAC equipment.
  • Knowledge of the tools, equipment and materials common to the electrical trade.
  • Knowledge of applicable electrical codes, standards and regulations.
  • Knowledge of electrical applications for high and low voltage electric systems.

Education and Experience

  • Must meet Kentucky HVAC license standards and hold a license.
  • Must have experience in HVAC repairs, service and installation.
  • Must have vocational training or equivalent in HVAC field.
