A Heavy Equipment Mechanic is an experienced knowledgeable mechanic with the ability to repair, inspect, service, and maintain construction equipment and related vehicles including but not limited to, gasoline and diesel-powered vehicles, bulldozers, rollers, backhoes motor graders, loaders, scrapers, and water trucks. This position requires preparing maintenance records and time logs for equipment repairs.

DUTIES:
-Inspection, repair, and maintenance of trucks, bulldozers, and other construction related equipment with little supervision.
-Ability to lead less experienced mechanics in repairs as needed.
-Ensure equipment follows safety guidelines in accordance with company standards.
-Perform safety checks on equipment prior to use.
-Diagnosing and reporting faults in equipment and taking appropriate action to ensure safety guidelines are met.
-Repair equipment in a timely manner in order to promote continuation of projects.
-Read and understand diagrams related to equipment utilized by the company.
-Mentor and coach less experienced mechanics within the company

-Extensive experience in building machines or mechanical components according to requirements

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
-Equivalent to high school diploma
-2+ years of experience as a construction mechanic
-Experience in a leadership role
-Expertise in working on diesel-powered equipment or other heavy equipment.
-Good understanding of computer diagnostic testing technologies
-Extensive knowledge and experience working on vehicle engines and construction equipment.

PREFERRED SKILLS
-Inspection, repair, and maintenance of equipment and machinery
-Perform any kind of repair as needed within scope of practice.
-Ability to identify problems associated with equipment and take appropriate action in a timely fashion.
-Expert in the use of tools needed to repair equipment.
-Extensive experience in diagnosing and repairing mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and suspension systems.
-Performance of preventative maintenance on a variety of equipment and systems within the company
-Logs of work and report on issues
-Ability to follow established procedures and practices and be able to read instructions and blueprints.
-Proficiency in safety guidelines
ADDITIONAL NOTES
Work Conditions
-Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
-Hazards associated with trade.
-Exposure to construction sites
-Safety equipment will be required such as steel-toed safety boots.
-Work both indoors and outdoors
-Will be required to work in extreme weather conditions.
-Overtime as required
