Analog Front End Architect

Location: In Person or Hybrid (Beaverton, OR | Louisville, CO | Solon, OH)

Description: We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Analog Signal Path Architect to join our team. Come join us in defining and developing our next generation instrument and probe architecture, including the system level and ASIC level design. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in test and measurement of electronic devices, analog amplifier design experience, domain knowledge, metrology, signal integrity, and project leadership. Candidate will have opportunity to be mentored and mentor in this role by key Principals and Fellows in the organization.

Responsibilities:

Define electronic architecture and workflow that interfaces between the customer's device and the data converter in the instrument, including probe, oscilloscope, signal source, and RF/Optical instrumentation signal paths.

Specify and design input attenuators and switches, input preamplifier topologies using commercial and internally developed ASICs, analog samplers and up/down converters, Transimpedance Amplifiers, ESD protection structures, overload/overstress protection, buffer and distribution amplifiers for DACs.

Specify key performance parameters in alignment with market and business needs.

Lead a team of individual contributors in evolving architecture from concept to reference design implementation.

Advise and evolve throughout the architecture lifecycle

Define technology for reuse and scaling beyond short term design cycles

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in electronic engineering, advanced degree preferred.

5 or more years demonstrated experience in design of circuits for test and measurement.

Demonstrated proficiency in analog amplifier specification and design.

Signal integrity, electromagnetic propagation, power integrity, and linear systems proficiency.

Demonstrated experience in interpretation of customer's workflow into specification and topology.

Strong cross-functional communication and teaching skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

Senior level experience in design or system engineering

Proficiency in metrology and the design of calibrated circuits

Laboratory experience with oscilloscopes, vector network analyzers, impedance measurement across frequency, noise measurement, signal sources, and ESD/EMI/EOS characterization.

Design and use of probes, interposers, or other signal access devices.

Development Opportunities:

Experience in model-based design.

Senior or Principal level promotion track

Experience in transistor level/ASIC design across extended temperature ranges

Experience in interpretation of production statistics, design for manufacturing, VAVE, and sustaining activities.

Experience in modeling software such as Cadence Virtuoso; Matlab or Python; Ansys HFSS or CST; Keysight ADS, Ansys Designer, or AWR Microwave Office; PCB/Package layout tools; and SPICE or SPECTRE.
