This position is responsible for assisting professional engineer and/or higher level technicians in the performance of construction inspection work.
The incumbent must be self-motivated and be able to perform duties many times with or without minimal supervision and also be able to interpret unforeseen conditions as they may arise.
Minimum Qualifications
Possession of a high school diploma or GED.
SUBSTITUTIONS:
Six months of experience in sub-professional engineering, heavy mobile equipment operation, or mobile equipment maintenance will substitute for the high school diploma or GED.

Job Duties and Other Information
Job Duties:
Serves on a team of lower-level technicians performing inspections on various phases of work such as inspection of earthwork operations and placement of embankments; placement of Asphaltic Concrete by contractor for adherence to specification, construction procedures and quality measurements; inspection of Portland Cement Concrete (PCC) Pavement construction; inspection of drainage structures, trench excavations and bedding material placement; and inspection of bridge construction projects.
Serves as team member for individual phases of construction depending on the Project Engineer's staff and work schedule. Position may rotate from project to project to oversee same.
Documents contractor activities and accomplishments on diaries, field books, and reports for the purpose of payment of estimates. Enters construction project data into appropriate computer database or application such as Site Manager. Assists office staff with partial and final estimate documents. Prepares and records material sampling or testing reports. Advises contractor of non-conformance and ensures corrective actions are taken. Reviews plans and proposals prior to construction for errors or omissions.
Acts as survey party chief or a member of a survey crew for the purpose of verifying contractor's survey layout, alignment, and offsets on benchmark elevations. Serves on a team of technicians to gather data for pre-design information, pre- construction quality verification, or forensic study of existing facilities.

Engineering Technician 2 - Starting salary is $1120.00/bi-weekly
Engineering Technician 3 - Starting salary is $1282.40/bi-weekly
Engineering Technician 4 - Starting salary is $1468.00/bi-weekly
Compensation: This position is eligible for premium pay for every hour worked:
Engineering Technician 1-4 - $2.00/hour
Engineering Technician 5 - $1.00/hour
Work Schedule: Work hours are 7:45 am - 4:15 pm, Monday-Friday
