The City of Concordia is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented
Building Inspector to join our team. This is a key role responsible for
ensuring that all residential, commercial, and industrial developments
within city limits comply with adopted building codes, safety
regulations, and local standards. If youre passionate about building

**Key Responsibilities:**
Enforce compliance with building, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, and
other codes (e.g., IBC, NEC, IPC, IMC, IRC).
Conduct plan reviews and on-site inspections for new construction,
remodels, and demolitions.
Administer permits, certificates of occupancy, and contractor licensing
programs.
Investigate unsafe or non-compliant structures and enforce condemnation
when necessary.
Provide exceptional service by resolving construction-related inquiries
and complaints.
Work closely with architects, contractors, developers, and homeowners.

Board of Building Trades, Board of Zoning Appeals, and Planning
Commission.
Assist in budgeting, reporting, and enforcement of zoning and
subdivision regulations.
**Qualifications:**
**Education:** High school diploma or equivalent required.
Post-secondary education in a construction-related field is preferred.
**Experience:**
Minimum 2 years of experience in construction-related field or municipal
inspection.
Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.
**Certifications:**
ICC Building Inspector Certification preferred, and required within 12
months of hire.
Additional code-related certification encouraged
**Licenses:** Valid Class C Kansas drivers license with an acceptable
driving record.
**Technical Skills:** Ability to read blueprints, apply building codes,
use digital inspection tools, and produce clear reports.
**Soft Skills:** Strong communication, decision-making, and
problem-solving abilities. A commitment to community service and
teamwork is essential.
**What We Offer:**
Annual salary range \$62,000 - \$70,000, based on experience and
qualifications
