Apply Now I have already applied Save Job Print Email ShareWe are seeking a Stormwater Inspector familiar with the Clean Water Act, National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System, and stormwater laws and regulations to provide full time on-site support at Joint Base Lewis-McChord North, Tacoma, WA. The successful candidate will provide technical support and serve as the primary monitoring/inspection support for a comprehensive stormwater management program mandated by the Clean Water Act (CWA) and three EPA permits.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Maintain and update inventories of industrial facilities that potentially discharge industrial waste materials into the stormwater system.
- Conduct inspections, document results, and recommend and initiate government approved corrective actions for industrial facilities on a specified frequency to insure prevention of illicit discharges into stormwater.
- Examine and analyze components of the storm sewer system to track adequate conveyance and treatment of stormwater before discharge to the waters of Washington State.
- Prepare maps, maintain records, and support preparation of annual reports as required by law.
- Provide input for modifying maintenance, repair, and construction contractor specification to implement compliance with all aspects of regulated stormwater practices on industrial construction sites.
- Upload monitoring and inspection data into databases.
- Conduct industrial permit required monitoring and analyze and evaluate data for compliance with benchmarks and trends.
- Support stormwater outreach, educations and training to soldiers and civilians on JBLM.
- Conduct illicit discharge surveys and upload results into database.
- Conduct other monitoring, sampling, and inspections as required for permit compliance.
JOB REQUIREMENTS :
- Bachelors Degree in environmental science or related field and a minimum of one (1) year of experience OR a minimum of four (4) years of experience in stormwater inspections, sampling, and monitoring if no degree.
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Knowledge of the Clean Water Act, National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System, and other applicable stormwater laws and regulations.
- Excellent time management skills, and the ability to work independently and meet strict government and regulatory reporting requirements.
- Experience conducting water quality sampling and inspections and reviewing data for accuracy.
- Ability to communicate effectively across various departments and teams.
- Physical ability to conduct day-long inspections and sampling walking across varying terrain and under differing weather conditions.
- Dependable, fast, accurate, and extremely detail oriented.
- Motivated, outgoing self-starters requested.
- Certified Erosion and Sediment Control Lead (CESCL) training or ability to obtain is desired.
- Must be able to successfully pass a federal agency background investigation.
