NDDOT Hiring Salary: $7,243 / month

At the North Dakota Department of Transportation, we owe our success to our TEAM and processes. As a Transportation Engineer III in the Local Government Division, you will manage locally developed roadway and bridge projects to ensure timely delivery and compliance with state and federal funding guidelines. You will also provide technical support to local agencies and consultants, offering guidance on program requirements and engaging through meetings and presentations. Additionally, the role supports a variety of Local Government programs by executing contracts, preparing documents, and assisting with project delivery to meet divisional objectives.

Job Duties Include:

Project Management of local developed projects for roadway and bridge projects.

  • Review project schedules and monitor activities for timely completion to meet the bid ready requirements.
  • Provide guidance on development of project activities such as environmental clearance, permitting, utility coordination, etc.
  • Review and provide feedback for project plans, specifications, and estimates needed to meet bidding requirements.
  • Work with various NDDOT Divisions and Districts, FHWA, and other federal/state agencies.
  • Attend Field reviews, public input meetings, project meetings, etc to provide technical assistance.

Provide technical assistance to Cities, Townships, counties, and other non-state governmental agencies, and consultants.

  • Support agencies in local state and federal program guidance.
  • Attend local agency meetings to communicate, collaborate, and educate.
  • Present at local agency meetings and conferences.

Aid Local Government teams on other programs as requested by the Division Director.

  • Provide assistance on numerous tasks needed to fulfill requirements of Local Government programs such as Flex Fund Program, Transportation Alternatives, Special Road fund, Urban Grant Program, other federal aid programs, etc.
  • Execute contracts, prepare agreements, and process payments.
  • Prepare bidders proposal and PACER estimates.
  • Review and submit final plans, certifications, SP's, construction completion dates for bidding.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Requires a bachelor's degree in civil engineering.
  • Four years of roadway and bridge design experience.
  • Successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering exam.
  • Requires a class D drivers license for travel to meetings and project locations.

Employment of the selected candidate will be contingent on satisfactorily completing the interview process and reference check.
