The tasks listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this position. Management may assign additional tasks related to the type of work of the position as necessary.
- Trains on how to inspect sewer lines using television inspection equipment to determine and record sewer conditions and problems.
- Trains on how to perform the cleaning of sewer lines, treatment plants and lift stations; pressure-cleans and mechanically cleans manholes and sewer lines; removes roots and debris as necessary; clears stoppages from lines and manholes; mechanically removes root-infested lines as necessary.
- Trains on how to perform above- and below-ground physical inspections, smoke, and dye tests on sewer lines (SSES).
- Trains on how to transport equipment and supplies to and from work sites once
- Trains on how to monitor odor issues related to a wastewater conveyance system sites.
- Trains on how to perform pump station performance evaluations.
- Trains on how to perform maintenance on force main air relief valves.
- Responds to customer service calls when requested.
- Performs pipeline repairs as needed.
- GPS field data gathering
- Trains on how to read and interpret geographical metropolitan and rural maps.
- Trains on how to operate heavy and specialized equipment as necessary, including but not limited to television inspection van, jet truck, cleaner / vacuum combination truck, trailers, bucket truck, tractors, etc.; operates gas detectors and various hand and power tools.
- Maintains accurate and up-to-date records of work performed.
- Inspects and maintains equipment for proper and safe working condition; maintains assigned vehicles, tools, and equipment.
- Works on call 24 hours per day as scheduled for emergency response.
- Attends meetings, training, workshops, etc., as appropriate to enhance job knowledge and skills.
- Management may assign additional duties as trained for and qualified to do so related to the work of the position as necessary.
Essential Skills & Experience:
- Requires high school diploma, GED, or specialized vocational training.
- Must obtain a valid SC Class A CDL drivers license permit with tanker endorsement, manual transmission within three (3) months from date of employment.
- SC Class A CDL drivers license within nine (9) months from date of employment.
- Must have confined space entry training or be able to obtain training within 3 (three) months from date of employment.
