Machine Operator Job Description We are seeking a skilled Machine Operator to apply metal to customer orders and accurately process material according to work order specifications. The successful candidate will ensure that processing equipment is maintained in a safe and clean condition, and the processing area is kept orderly. Additional tasks include accurate information entry and other duties as assigned. Responsibilities Operate cranes, forklifts, and other material handling equipment. Pull, inspect, and verify product before processing. Safely set up equipment to run material according to set up note specifications. Process set up notes in alignment with work order specifications. Verify product compliance with set up note specifications using written instructions and record measurements. Communicate with sales representatives for order changes or clarifications. Perform preventive maintenance on equipment. Correctly enter or delete material identification tags following written instructions. Assist in general clean-up and packaging of material per written instructions. Maintain issued measurement equipment in working condition. Operate weighing scale and record inspection measurements. Identify, record, and segregate scrap and non-conforming material. Provide feedback to supervision regarding machine efficiency and product quality. Complete job responsibilities safely, avoiding unsafe situations. Train others when required. Assist in lean and quality-related activities. Essential Skills Certified in material handling. Experience with saw operation, preferably 2+ years in a manufacturing or warehouse environment. Ability to perform inventory control using mathematical skills and blueprint reading. Proficient in operating cranes and forklifts. Ability to lift and carry up to 40 lbs. Basic math skills. Additional Skills & Qualifications High school diploma/GED. Previous warehouse experience, especially in the metals industry. Computer literacy. Use of handheld measuring tools. Experience with various saws such as waterjet, bandsaw, drill press, CNC in industrial settings. Why Work Here? Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Wichita, Kansas. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $21.20 - $22.20/hr.
