Openwork is currently assisting a local client in their search to ll Machine Operator jobs in Smyrna. As a Machine Operator you will be responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining Computer Numerical Control (CNC) machines (mills and/or lathes) to produce precision firearm components according to strict specifications and quality standards. This role requires a strong understanding of machining principles, blueprint interpretation, and a commitment to accuracy and safety in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. if you meet the qualications listed below!

Machine Operation and Setup:

Set up and operate CNC mills and/or lathes to produce firearm components from various materials (e.g., aluminum, steel).

Load raw materials and unload finished parts.

Select and verify tooling, fixtures, and machine settings (offsets, speeds, feeds) according to CNC programs and work orders.

Perform test runs to ensure proper machine operation and program accuracy.

Quality Control and Inspection:

Read and interpret complex blueprints, engineering drawings, and work orders, including Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).

Utilize precision measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, gauges, and CMMs (Coordinate Measuring Machines) to conduct thorough quality checks on machined parts.

Identify and report defective materials or questionable conditions to management or quality control personnel.

Adjust machine settings and offsets as needed to maintain tight tolerances and ensure parts meet exact specifications.

Qualifications:

Education: High school diploma or GED equivalent required. Completion of a vocational or technical program in CNC machining, manufacturing technology, or a related field is highly preferred.

Experience: 2+ years of experience as a CNC Machine Operator in a manufacturing environment. Experience in the firearms, aerospace, or medical device industries with tight tolerances is a significant plus.

Schedule Options:

1st: 6 AM - 2 PM $17.72/hr

2nd: 2 PM - 10 PM $17.72/hr

3rd: 10 PM - 6 AM $19.72/hr
