Job Title: Project Coordinator

Job Description

This role supports new customer construction project teams with accounting, billing, and financial responsibilities. It ensures proper recording of the financial aspects of the construction project life cycle by creating orders and notifications. Under the guidance of sr staff, the position involves monitoring, analyzing, identifying, and resolving accounting issues. The successful flow of construction projects through internal project management systems is supported, working closely with project management to ensure compliance with WUTC rates and tariffs, company accounting policies, and established SOX controls.

Responsibilities

  • Support construction accounting activities and oversight for the regional project management team.
  • Create, monitor, and edit work orders in SAP.
  • Maintain accurate technical master data.
  • Interpret construction project scopes to ensure compliance with company accounting policies and line extension tariffs and schedules.
  • Generate customer billing by creating accurate and timely non-consumption contract accounts, sales contracts, and other sales documents in SAP.
  • Audit facility agreements for pricing and customer data accuracy.
  • Resolve issues related to accounting, SOX controls, and tariff interpretation.
  • Work with service providers to resolve blocked billing issues.
  • Perform accounting functions such as journal entries.
  • Conduct monthly problem order reviews and order clean-up functions.
  • Research and resolve data and accounting problems.
  • Communicate with peers, customers, and management to ensure proper financial and accounting practices.
  • Develop ad hoc reporting on an as-needed basis.
  • Support the development of system and process improvements and solutions.
  • Participate in emergency response efforts as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Essential Skills

  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, drafting, and construction coordination.
  • Experience with SAP, overhead distribution, underground utilities, and piping design.
  • Knowledge of gas system, gas system design, electric system design, utilities, and public utility district.
  • Ability to exercise judgment in analyzing and identifying solutions to complex issues.
  • Proficiency with BW (Business Warehouse) and SAP.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Associate's degree in accounting, business, construction management, or an equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience.
  • Two years of experience in construction services or related field.
  • Experience contributing to process improvements.
  • Experience developing ad hoc reporting with minimal assistance.
  • Previous work experience in the gas and/or electric utility industry.
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite including Excel and Microsoft Word.

Work Environment

This role is based in an office environment where construction crews frequently come and go. It supports work under the pole services group, primarily focused on street lighting and LED conversions, with exposure to additional projects the group performs. Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $33.00/hr.
