The Opportunity
Williams International has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to join our Advanced Development Team.
This position is 100% onsite and no remote or hybrid work is available at this time.
The Mechanical Design Engineer will:
- Create designs and engineering drawings of mechanical systems to support R&D and production engine and rig testing.
- Coordinate the manufacture of designs with internal and external manufacturing facilities.
- Participate in pre-test planning meetings across many different programs and engineering groups
- Coordinate multiple disciplines in test readiness
- Work within a fully integrated manufacturing process and product design team on both development and production products
- Develop discrepancy free processes by improving work instructions, design intent, and process techniques through data driven statistical analysis of the current process, in support of full PPAP verification
- Develop and maintain Engine BOM structures within Williams International PLM system and ERP system
- Manage Engine NX CAD models and product definition
- Create and maintain detailed engineering drawings, including Bills of Materials (BOMs).
- Review engineering changes and approval as Layout Engineer for all Engine hardware
- Written and oral communication to internal and external customers
- Support project development, qualification, and production efforts
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering
- Practical design and manufacturing knowledge gained with a 5+ years of prior related work experience
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Proficiency using CAD tools such as NX with Teamcenter
- Experience creating and maintaining assembly tolerance stack-ups
- Strong understanding of ASME Y14.5 GD&T standards
- Design for automation is a plus
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, Project, and PowerPoint)
- Experience in product development with core proficiency in either manufacturing process design, product definition and design, or project engineering
- U.S. Citizenship is required
- Position requires the ability to obtain a U. S. Government Security Clearance, if needed. Candidates selected may be subject to a U. S.
