Scion Nonprofit Staffing has been engaged to conduct a search for a Construction Project Manager - Outdoor Site & Facilities
on behalf of our exceptional partner, a mission-aligned organization committed to advancing animal wellness through innovative, nature-based care and infrastructure. This is a full-time temporary (1.5-2 year) opportunity based fully onsite at a large rural property in Salem, OR currently undergoing a major expansion to support long-term operational growth and programming.
POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Construction Project Manager will oversee multiple capital and infrastructure projects including animal housing, veterinary support buildings, barns, access roads, and fencing. This highly impactful role supports the organization's expansion by delivering critical facility upgrades with a focus on ethical, sustainable, and species-appropriate design. The ideal candidate brings deep experience in managing construction projects in rural or agricultural settings and thrives in collaborative, hands-on environments.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Manage and prioritize multiple concurrent capital projects from initiation through completion
Source, evaluate, and oversee contractors, trades, and vendors
Review and manage bids, budgets, compliance, permitting, and build schedules
Collaborate cross-functionally with operations, animal care, veterinary, and facilities staff
Track deliverables, timelines, and budgets; provide regular reporting to executive leadership and board
Ensure species-specific, ethical, and sustainable design elements are incorporated throughout
QUALIFICATIONS:
Extensive experience managing outdoor construction or capital improvement projects
Strong budgeting, contractor oversight, and scheduling skills
Familiarity with rural/agricultural, veterinary, or care facility environments preferred
Knowledge of permitting, compliance, and CAD or construction documentation
Exceptional communication and coordination skills across multidisciplinary teams
Must be comfortable in active construction zones and able to lift 50 lbs, navigate uneven terrain, and work in varying weather
Valid driver's license required
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:
Pay Rate: $65-$85/hour depending on experience
