PURPOSE: The Engineering Technician is a key member of the Silicon Photonics Team in the Systems Business Unit. Working in close partnership with a core team of Mechanical, Optical, Electrical, Systems, and Software Engineers, the Engineering Technician builds, tests, and documents new product designs and revisions to existing product designs. In addition, the technician oversees engineering lab operations, and ensures maintenance of a well-supplied, safe, clean, orderly work environment and performs SolidWorks drafting. The technician must have the ability to work through adverse situations, while building and maintaining good personal relationships. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Assemble prototype products and redline documentation.
  • Setup and run engineering tests per engineers instruction.
  • Assist engineers with data analysis and troubleshooting.
  • Coordinate part fabrication and modification with internal & external fabricators.
  • Create assembly and test instructions.
  • Create and maintain bill of materials (Agile).
  • Create engineering change orders.
  • Engineering probe station maintenance and calibration.
  • Engineering lab upkeep and lab supply management.
  • Administer equipment calibration program and annual engineering capital equipment audit.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
  • Associate degree in a technical field or equivalent work experience in lieu of degree. Bachelors degree in a technical field a plus.
  • 10+ years of experience as an engineering technician preferably in a high technology, research and development setting, experience in semiconductor capital equipment a plus.
  • Must have the ability and comfort to work independently and operate with only general direction and minimal oversight.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Experience with electrical and mechanical test and measurement equipment.
  • Experience assembling, testing and trouble-shooting electro-mechanical and precision mechanical prototype designs.
  • Experience with engineering drawings, Bills of Materials, Engineering Change Orders, and operational procedures.
  • Basic skill level with SolidWorks, Microsoft Office and MATLAB is beneficial.
  • Machine shop and mechanical inspection experience a plus.
  • Familiarity with handling, cleaning, and mounting small optical components a plus.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Capability to adapt to the companys changing needs and priorities and be a self-motivated team player.
The pay range for this role in Beaverton, OR is between $31.55 and $41.42. The pay range may differ in other locations. FormFactor maintains broad salary ranges for its roles in order to account for variations in education, training, skills, relevant work experience, business needs and market demands. Candidates are typically placed into the range based on the preceding factors as well as internal peer equity.
