Per Diem:

  • $132.12/day non-taxed (while at Overland Park)

  • $173/day taxed (at project site)

Job Summary

The Construction Manager will oversee and coordinate all construction activities on the project site, ensuring compliance with schedule, safety, cost, and quality requirements. Reporting to the Project Field Manager, the Construction Manager will supervise subcontractors and direct hire superintendents, enforce schedule compliance, and ensure timely project delivery in line with company standards and client expectations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and coordinate all on-site subcontractor and direct hire superintendent activities to ensure compliance with the CPM schedule and subcontract requirements.

  • Implement the Project Construction Execution Plan effectively.

  • Supervise and mentor superintendents, providing leadership and guidance.

  • Monitor and report construction productivity and schedule performance to the Project Field Manager and Field Project Controls Manager.

  • Take necessary actions to meet project budget and schedule targets, including directing subcontractor schedule recovery plans.

  • Coordinate Construction Completion Walkdowns and ensure the handover of startup packages to the Startup Manager. Supervise closeout of all punch list items.

  • Assist the Project Field Manager with client interface and relationship management.

  • Collaborate with the Field Material Manager to review site-procured materials for acceptance.

  • Review and approve equipment rentals and coordinate shared use with subcontractors.

  • Conduct weekly coordination and subcontractor meetings.

  • Report weekly schedule and commodity installation status to Field Project Controls Manager.

  • Monitor and approve extra work authorizations, backcharges, and payment requests, ensuring timely change management documentation.

  • Enforce adherence to Safety, Quality, Ethical Standards, Lessons Learned, and Performance Management programs.

  • Oversee Division 8 labor charges and costs on direct hire projects and manage the Construction Equipment budget.

  • Monitor and approve subcontractor CIR replies.

  • Act as Safety Representative on-site in absence of regular Safety Supervisor.

  • Maintain general knowledge of all construction disciplines and provide coverage as needed.

  • Establish and manage tool trailer lists at project onset.

  • Resolve safety and quality issues in collaboration with Safety and Quality Managers.

Required Skills & Experience
  • Minimum 10 years of construction management experience in Combined Cycle or relevant Industrial Construction projects.

  • Experience managing 400+ direct hire union craft workers.

  • Proven ability to create and manage manpower loading and scheduling on large-scale projects.

  • Strong leadership, supervisory, conflict management, and problem-solving skills.

  • Experience with construction project management systems and risk assessment/management.

  • Familiarity with project and department budget processes and tools.

  • Ability to conduct conceptual planning and deliver effective presentations.

  • Knowledge of OSHA regulations and safety standards preferred.

Preferred Skills
  • Experience with construction technologies including Simple Cycle, Combined Cycle, Pulverized Coal, Circulating Fluidized Bed, Nuclear.

  • Knowledge of EPC industry standards and constructability principles.

  • Expertise in project controls and expense reporting procedures.

  • Ability to mentor, coach, and build teams effectively.

Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction, Engineering, or a related field preferred.

  • Equivalent heavy industrial experience considered (20+ years with at least 2 years at Construction Manager level or 10+ years with degree).

Physical Demands & Work Environment
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.

  • Frequent standing, kneeling, bending, stooping, and walking on uneven or confined surfaces.

  • Normal or corrected vision and hearing required.

  • Must have full range of motion and flexibility.

  • Capable of climbing and maintaining balance on steel frameworks, stairs, ladders, and scaffolds.

  • Ability to work 12-hour shifts in various weather conditions and temperature extremes.

Additional Requirements
  • Must complete pre-employment onboarding requirements, including criminal/civil background check, drug screening, and motor vehicle records search, as applicable.
