Structural Design Engineer

Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Structural Design Engineer to investigate design build issues and develop structural engineering and instrumentation installation solutions. The role involves authoring temporary engineering solutions to resolve build issues efficiently, dispositioning aircraft non-conformances with rework instructions, and coordinating with various engineering disciplines, Quality Assurance, and operations manufacturing representatives. Additionally, you will design Flight Test engineering change requests, author engineering instructions, and design and release Special Missions Engineering structural and systems installations.

Responsibilities

  • Investigate design build issues and develop solutions for structural engineering and instrumentation installation.
  • Author temporary engineering solutions to resolve build issues in a timely manner.
  • Disposition aircraft non-conformances, including rework instructions (MRB).
  • Perform aircraft and engineering drawing investigation and coordination with affected engineering disciplines, Quality Assurance, and operations manufacturing representatives.
  • Design Flight Test engineering change requests and coordinate with work package owners.
  • Author engineering to define structural special instructions or restrictions.
  • Design and release Special Missions Engineering structural and systems installations.
Essential Skills
  • Structural design expertise.
  • Proficiency in CATIA V5, with a minimum of 6,000 hours.
  • Experience in Special Missions or Aftermarket modifications.
  • Experience supporting manufacturing and aircraft modifications.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Highly motivated self-starter.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Bachelors Degree in Mechanical/Aeronautical Engineering or a related discipline from an accredited University.
  • Minimum of 15 years industry experience.
  • Per US Requirements, must be ITAR compliant.
  • Experience with munitions integrations is an asset.
  • Recent experience with 2D drawings is required.
  • Proficiency in CATIA V5 Workbenches: Assembly Design, Part Design (Boolean Operations), Aerospace Sheetmetal, Tubing Design, Kinematics, and Electrical Harness Routing are a plus.
  • Experience with Teamcenter PLM is a plus.
Work Environment

The position is a long-term contract supporting a large Aerospace and Defense OEM in Wichita. The work is conducted Monday to Friday, from 8 AM to 5 PM, in an office setting.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $60.00 - $90.00/hr.
