Adjunct Plumbing Technician Instructor

Job Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver comprehensive lesson plans that align with industry standards and certification requirements.
  • Provide hands-on training in various aspects of plumbing, including pipe installation, fixture assembly, water distribution, drainage systems, and blueprint reading.
  • Instruct students in safety procedures, proper tool usage, and compliance with local, state, and national plumbing codes.
  • Assess and evaluate student performance through assignments, exams, and practical demonstrations.
  • Maintain an organized and safe learning environment, including proper maintenance of tools and equipment.
  • Collaborate with academic and administrative staff to continuously enhance the plumbing program.
  • Support student success through mentorship, career guidance, and job placement assistance.
  • Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and code updates to ensure curriculum relevance.
  • Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and accreditation activities as required.

Minimum and Additional Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate degree or higher in a related field preferred.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience as a licensed plumbing technician or journeyman/master plumber.
  • Teaching experience in a vocational or technical education setting is a plus but not required.

Additional Comments

  • Classroom and hands-on lab/shop environment.
  • May involve moderate lifting, standing for extended periods, and exposure to tools and equipment used in the plumbing trade.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and instructional skills.
  • Ability to work with diverse student populations and adapt teaching methods to various learning styles.
  • Proficiency in using technology for instruction and student record-keeping.
  • Current plumbing licensure and industry certifications preferred.
