Design Engineer

Job Description

The Design Engineer will perform mechanical and electro-mechanical system and component design using solid modeling CAD tools. The role involves creating detailed drawings of parts and assemblies and calculating dimensions and materials required for various parts. The engineer will ensure that mechanical development aligns with schedule and cost objectives, generate Bills of Materials (BOMs) and Engineering Change Orders (ECOs), and support projects from inception to production-ready capacity.

Responsibilities

  • Perform mechanical and electro-mechanical system and component design utilizing solid modeling CAD tools.
  • Create detailed drawings of parts and assemblies utilizing CAD tools.
  • Calculate and layout dimensions, angles, curvature of parts, materials to be used, and relationship of various parts to the entire structure.
  • Ensure mechanical development is created per schedule and per cost objectives.
  • Generate BOMs and ECOs.
  • Support development products into a production-ready capacity.
  • Participate with team members in generating and executing designs, project plans, estimates, and schedules.
  • Interact with internal and external suppliers to procure, deliver, and implement parts and designs.
  • Troubleshoot and find corrective actions for products that may experience failures.
  • Ensure design compliance with industry and company standards.
Essential Skills
  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering.
  • 7 years of experience in electro-mechanical design.
  • Proficient with Creo (Pro/Engineering).
  • Experience with designing/developing sheet metal, plastics, and machined enclosures.
  • Experience in design applications requiring environmental sealing, EMI sealing, and vibration loads.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Plastics design experience.
  • Experience with designing electrical enclosures.
  • BOM and ECO experience.
  • Experience with sheet metal and pro engineer design.
Work Environment

The role is primarily onsite, Monday to Friday, from 8 AM to 5 PM. Flexibility is provided for occasional work-from-home needs for personal appointments or family responsibilities. This position offers the opportunity to work on exciting new projects with potential for long-term contract extension.

This is an 18M Contract position based out of Alpharetta, Georgia

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $45.00 - $55.00/hr.
