Department Overview

The OHSU Electrician provides skilled, journey-level technical support for periodic testing, corrective maintenance, minor modifications and updates of the OHSU electrical infrastructure. Typical duties include performing system maintenance and repairs, performing simulated electrical outage testing, providing electrical support for equipment maintenance and documenting results. The position is also responsible for supporting various other electronic systems such as power metering, fire alarms, specialized equipment alarms, power plant operations, and engine-driven generators. The work will be performed in all OHSU owned and designated leased buildings both on and off the Marquam Hill campus. This position reports to the Utilities and Energy Manager.

Function/Duties of Position
  • Perform preventative maintenance on electrical infrastructure systems. Conduct periodic testing of EPSS (emergency power supply systems) battery backup lighting, , and lighting inverter systems documenting results of all testing. Replace batteries, lamps, lamp holders, and ballasts as needed keeping accurate records of maintenance and corrective work done to these systems. Program, maintain, and repair, mechanical and electronic lighting controls.

  • Perform system diagnostics, troubleshooting, corrective repairs, and necessary modifications of the electrical infrastructure systems and related components. Provide documentation of the work performed as required by internal policies and regulatory agencies.

  • Maintain Lighting control systems for interior and exterior lighting in patient room, research labs, conference rooms, class rooms, and public spaces.
  • Respond to Campus electrical emergencies
Required Qualifications

Possession of one of the following Oregon or states with reciprocal agreement Electrician's Licenses appropriate to the work to be performed:

  • General Supervising Electrician License
  • General Journeyman Electrician License
  • Limited Journey Manufacturing Plant License
  • Limited Supervising Manufacturing Plant License
Preferred Qualifications

Working conditions for this position may include any of the following; Working outside in inclement weather, environments containing dust, odor, high levels of noise, high temperatures, and exposure to dirt, biological, chemical, or radiological hazards. In addition, you may be required to crawl into small, cramped spaces, work from ladders, scaffolds, or other above ground locations including high, sloping roofs, working around moving machinery and in confined spaces.
