We are excited to share that AKS Engineering & Forestry (AKS) seeking a full-time Assistant Construction Manager to play a key role in delivering successful infrastructure and private development projects. In this position, youll directly support project executionhelping keep work on schedule, within budget, and built to specifications. Youll collaborate with internal teams and coordinate with contractors and inspectors to solve real-time field challenges. Your contributions, from quantity take-offs and cost estimates to constructability reviews, will help ensure our designs are practical, buildable, and cost-effective.

What Youll Do

+ Addressing construction-related issues directly or in coordination with the AKS Construction Manager or Project Manager.

+ Serving as an AKS representative in the field and building strong working relationships with contractors, municipal representatives, and clients.

+ Preparing and reviewing budgets, schedules, and constructability assessments.

+ Managing project budgets and engaging in cost discussions with contractors, subcontractors, and owners.

+ Franchise utility coordination and communication.

+ Preparing internal and client-facing reports that track project progress, schedules, and costs for Project Managers and clients.

+ Ensuring all changes to specifications, work scope, and drawings are properly documented.

+ Inspecting and documenting the construction progress of streets, earthwork, and utilities to ensure compliance with contract documents, specifications, and building codes.

+ Reviewing contractor billing and verifying the accuracy of billed quantities.

Who You Are

+ A minimum of 3+ years proven experience in the construction and civil engineering industries.

+ Strong understanding of construction methods and technologies, including the ability to interpret contracts, technical drawings, and specifications.

+ Comfortable navigating active construction sites in varying weather conditions and uneven terrain.

+ Proficient in Bluebeam Revu for markups and quantity take-offs; organized and process-oriented, with experience using checklists to monitor project progress.

+ Skilled in Microsoft Excel, including basic formulas and table formatting.

+ Must have valid OR or WA driver's license and a clean driving record; must be insurable to operate an AKS vehicle.

+ Ability to pass a drug test.

Nice to Have

+ Associate degree or Bachelors degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field.

+ Familiarity with applicable laws, standards, and regulations related to construction, inspection, safety, and traffic control.

+ Strong ability to read and interpret construction drawings, plans, specifications, and contract documents.
