Join a mission-driven engineering team as a System Design Engineer specializing in CBRN (Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear) hazard detection systems. You'll work closely with the Technical Lead to drive hardware design and system integration, translating customer needs into precise specifications. Your diverse role will cover lifecycle support-from initial concept through SRR, PDR, CDR, LRIP-and include hands-on work in electro-mechanical design, subsystem testing, and troubleshooting. responsibilities:
  • Support Technical Lead in guiding CBRN (Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear) system development through complete lifecycle on a U.S. government-funded program

  • Define and translate customer needs into product design and project specifications

  • Oversee development and flow-down of key subsystem specifications to engineering teams

  • Support system reviews (SRR, PDR, CDR) with technical insight, documentation, and presentations

  • Lead integration, testing, and qualification efforts-develop test plans, execute tests, collect and analyze data

  • Provide engineering support during manufacturing, production, and customer service problems

  • Conduct technology trade studies, market surveys, and assist in new product proposals and performance modeling
Skills Needed

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including technical presentations and persuasive proposal writing

  • Ability to collaborate effectively across functional teams to deliver guided technical direction

  • Proficient in analyzing electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, and understanding software architecture
Requirements

  • BS or MS in Engineering and 5+ years of systems engineering or technical lead experience in multidisciplinary environments

  • Proven expertise guiding electro-mechanical hardware design to meet commercial and DoD standards

  • Experience translating customer requirements into formal specifications and ensuring specification flow-down

  • Solid experience supporting SRR, PDR, CDR, and LRIP phases on complex systems

  • Eligible to work in the U.S. or capable of obtaining export control clearance
