About the Role
My client, a leading engineering and construction firm, is seeking a Senior Professional Electrical Engineer to support design and construction projects across a range of critical infrastructure sectors. This is a full-time, regular position based in Latham, NY, with no relocation support provided.
Responsibilities
- Design complex electrical systems including electric master system plans, power systems, generation models, facility power systems, and renewable energy systems.
- Conduct electrical studies and calculations including lighting simulations, power system analysis, communications, fire alarm, and security systems.
- Develop technical documentation and white papers to contribute to internal technical knowledge sharing.
- Conduct field reviews to validate design assumptions and requirements.
- Collaborate with business development teams to support proposals and client engagements.
- Represent the firm at industry events and conferences to enhance visibility.
- Mentor junior staff, providing technical oversight and development support.
- May oversee project work by less experienced engineers.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Electrical Technology, or a related field.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license.
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience (additional experience may substitute for formal education).
- Willingness to travel domestically and/or internationally depending on project requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience designing power systems in water, wastewater, industrial, federal, or transit sectors.
- Proficiency in medium and low-voltage power distribution design.
- Familiarity with NEC, NFPA, NESC, IEEE, UFC, and other relevant standards.
- Skilled in power system analysis software such as SKM Power Tools and ETAP.
Key Skills
- Advanced knowledge of CAD (3D and 4D).
- Strong engineering design principles.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office tools.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Thorough understanding of federal, state, and local regulations.
