Job Description
- Lead the design, prototype, test, and troubleshoot of embedded electronics hardware and firmware for engineering projects in our new product development organization.
- Provide candid and effective communications up, down, and across the organization on project progress, barrier removal, and escalation of business risks or opportunities.
- Demonstrate companys culture of high performance and agility by independently creating Work Breakdown Structure for projects and driving projects to critical milestones.
- Drive urgency in project schedules and accountability for establishing and achieving key project metrics that meet the organizations needs.
- Serve as a role model of company culture while mentoring, guiding, and coaching junior engineers. Grow the ability to lead and manage a small team.
- Research new electronic technologies to meet end-user requirements and develop tradeoffs of these technologies
- Program in multiple firmware and software languages (such as C, C++, and Python).
- Understand and integrate machine learning algorithms into embedded systems.
- Design, develop, and test brushless motor control circuitry and commutation schemes.
- Proficient use of laboratory equipment such as oscilloscopes, power supplies, e-loads, and data acquisition systems.
- Independently track projects to ensure adherence to schedule and the company process.
- Design and qualify new designs to applicable regulatory standards such as UL, CEC, CE, and ANSI.
Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, or related engineering field, or foreign degree equivalent, 2 years of relevant experience as an Electrical Engineer, or alternate related acceptable occupation; OR Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, or related engineering field, or foreign degree equivalent, 5 years of relevant experience as an Electrical Engineer, or alternate related acceptable occupation.
Work or academic experience must have included:
- C programming and related development tools and processes relating to microcontroller peripherals
- Analog/digital system tradeoffs and design relating to signal integrity, noise analysis, and margin considerations
- Firmware architecture and codebase re-use methodology
- Power electronics circuit design and control
- Schematic capture, PCB layout software, SPICE, and industry best practices
- Reading schematics and component data sheets and digital circuits and interaction between firmware and electronics
- Machine Learning & integrating machine learning algorithms into embedded systems
- Second modern programming language (Python or C++)
10% of domestic and international travel required
