Nature of Work: The Water Resources Engineer functions as a team leader and provides technical expertise to other licensed and non-licensed professional engineers as needed to support compliance with Marylands stormwater management (SWM) and erosion and sediment control (ESC) regulations for all SHA projects. This position is responsible for supervising consultant engineers who complete reviews to provide consistent, predictable, and timely comments leading to approvable projects. The Water Resources Engineer works under minimal supervision and reports directly to the Assistant Division Chief. The duties include conducting an independent review of complex projects for ESC, SWM, Small Pond 378 (Code 378), and SWM As-Built, managing simultaneous project reviews, developing and implementing division initiatives, and implementing process improvements to meet SHA goals. Additionally, this position will be responsible for the technical review plans, interpreting, administering, and improving SHA policies and procedures related to SWM/ESC and other environmental requirements.

Minimum Qualifications:
Possession of a Maryland Professional Engineer license, in the appropriate option, is required. Evidence of license must be presented at the time of appointment.
Experience : One (1) year of experience managing engineering projects as a licensed, professional engineer.
Selective Qualification: Two (2) years of experience in water resources and/or environmental engineer design, project management, or plan review.
*A Selective Qualification is more focused in scope than the minimum qualifications for this classification. Selective Qualifications are utilized when the position requires specific or additional bona fide occupational qualifications (i.e., knowledge, skill or ability).
