Under the general direction of the Associate Director of Design, Value Engineering & Construction Project Management, the Construction Project Manager II provides client school districts with assistance in planning and constructing new or modernized school facilities.

This is the second of three levels in the professional Project Management job series and focuses on successful K-12 building projects: finishing them on time and within budget. Project Manager II positions take on more responsibility and receive less supervision (than Project Manager I positions) in the overall coordination, implementation, execution and control of multi-phase capital construction projects; and are usually performed in small to mid-size school districts. This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Salary:

The full range for this position is $109,947.83 - $135,058.22. Offers are made at the entry level of the range ($109,947.83-$114,565.19)

Assignment:

This position will be full-time, year-round. Project work will be assigned in the northwest corner of Washington; north of Seattle, coastal range, and east to the cascades. A regional presence within the assigned service region is required.

Anticipated start date of August 1st, 2025

Essential Functions/Other Functions

Essential Functions:

Provide some or all of the following project/construction management functions for school construction projects:

Assist with pre-bond planning in the areas of budget, scheduling and related strategies.

Assist in procurement of construction and design contractors, develop bid solicitations, participate in pre-construction conferences.

Lead and develop project plans, defining project scope and requirements; coordinate staff and contractor resources; provide direction and support to project team; monitor and report on progress and issues and provide solutions to stakeholders by determining, implementing and managing project changes and interventions to achieve goals.

Act as the owner's representative during the design, construction and closeout periods. Provide professional and technical advice to district, including project solutions and alternative delivery methods.

Establish and monitor project budgets, schedules, and quality control. Provide clear and concise financial tracking and other capital project status reports to client districts on a periodic basis.

Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing; present information, reports and recommendations clearly and timely to both internal and external project associates.

Apply knowledge of laws, statutes, ordinances, codes and regulations related to public works, building construction and zoning, as well as CSG and school district policies/procedures.

Apply knowledge of public works and facilities planning and maintenance, and project funding.

Oversee contracts with contractors and consultants; conduct regular site visits; process progress payments; accept deliverables; monitor compliance.

Collaborate with other CSG Project Managers to assist with projects of a broader scope and complexity.

Attend pertinent workshops & professional development opportunities as recommended or approved by the Director/Assistant Director of

Project Management Services.

Other Functions:

Manage multiple concurrent projects.

Demonstrate tact, diplomacy, and patience and to gain cooperation through discussion and collaboration.

Research and apply current cost estimation techniques.

Apply knowledge of principles, processes, systems and techniques of capital construction project and contract management.

Other duties as assigned.

Minimum/Preferred Qualifications & Skills

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Architecture, Engineering, Business Management or related field and three years of experience in construction, construction management, project management, landscape architecture or related experience; OR an Associate's degree and five years of experience in construction, construction management, project management, landscape architecture or related experience; OR a High School Diploma and seven years of experience in construction, construction management, project management, landscape architecture or related experience.

Knowledge of public works and facilities planning/maintenance project management principles, processes, systems and techniques, as well as funding/budgeting, objective development and work planning/scheduling.

Knowledge of trends, approaches and problem-solving techniques used in construction, engineering, inspection and compliance issues.

Preferred Qualifications and Skills:

Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management, Architecture, Engineering, or a related field.

Experience with the State of Washington Public Works requirements.

Knowledge of the OSPI School Funding Assistance Program for K-12 schools in the state of Washington.

Experience making public presentations.

Working Conditions/Employment Requirements

Working Conditions/Physical Requirements:

Extended or flexible hours as necessary, may include occasional evening and weekend work.

CSG operates a state wide program. Opportunities and assignments may occur at various geographic locations.

May work in a variety of settings, including outdoors, on construction sites, or in office environments.

Lifting, pushing and pulling may occasionally be required, as well as fine finger dexterity.
