Lead Machine Operator Job Description As a Lead Machine Operator, you will oversee the operations on the production line, ensuring all machines run on schedule and at production speed. You will monitor product quality, perform machine changeovers, and assist with preventative maintenance. Additionally, you will ensure all work is done safely, train new employees, and manage production materials to minimize downtime. Responsibilities Lead and oversee machine operators and production on the line. Assign employees to production lines and ensure all machines run on schedule. Monitor product quality by taking hourly samples and inspecting for defects. Assist with machine changeovers, order changes, and preventative maintenance. Ensure safety procedures are followed and provide relief for employee breaks and lunches. Train new employees or delegate training as necessary. Restock materials and ensure production efficiency to minimize downtime. Perform various mechanical adjustments and repairs as needed. Complete other duties as assigned by management, including maintaining food safety standards. Essential Skills Strong mechanical aptitude with experience in machine adjustments and repairs. Proficiency in troubleshooting and operating machinery. Ability to perform maintenance repairs and mechanical assembly. Experience with hand and power tools, and electrical repairs. High attention to detail and ability to maintain production efficiency. Additional Skills & Qualifications High School diploma or GED required. 5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment strongly preferred. 2-5 years of experience as a Machine Operator with mechanical repair skills. Work Environment The work environment is a non-temperature-controlled manufacturing setting, known for being clean and well-organized. Employees are required to work in a safety-first environment, overseeing four machines in a work cell. The production area includes forklifts and requires observance of safety protocols. Work attire includes hearing protection, steel-toed shoes, and mandatory hair and beard nets in the FDA-regulated production areas. Training is conducted on the 1st shift for 4-6 months before transitioning to either the 2nd or 3rd shift. Employees work approximately 50-55 hours per week, with the possibility of voluntary overtime. The facility produces food-grade paper products and bags, with a focus on teamwork and safety. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Jackson, Tennessee. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $27.00/hr.
