1. Site Design & Layout
- Lead grading, drainage, utility layout, and stormwater management design
- Apply civil engineering principles to develop comprehensive site plans
2. Regulatory Compliance
- Ensure designs meet local, state, and federal codes
- Support permitting processes and coordinate with regulatory agencies (especially in California)
3. Project Management
- Develop and manage project schedules, budgets, and milestones
- Coordinate with internal teams and external stakeholders
4. Client Interaction
- Understand client goals and provide regular updates
- Lead meetings, address technical questions, and ensure client satisfaction
5. Technical Documentation & QA/QC
- Produce and review design plans, calculations, and reports
- Implement quality control measures throughout the design process
Daily Responsibilities
- Draft and refine site plans using Civil 3D and AutoCAD
- Perform grading, stormwater, and utility calculations
- Review and redline plans for accuracy and compliance
- Communicate with clients and agencies
- Lead internal design meetings and mentor junior staff
- Participate in QA/QC reviews and prepare permit documentation
Required Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering
- Minimum 5 years of experience in site design or land development
- Experience with utility improvement sets (redevelopment/infill, greenfield)
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or active pursuit
- Proficiency in Civil 3D and AutoCAD
