Industrial Painter - 1st Shift**

**Job Description**

As an Industrial Painter, you will be responsible for preparing and painting the exterior of sections while adhering to paint work instructions to ensure quality and production needs are met. You will mix paint according to customer specifications, manually mix zinc, and apply epoxy, mist coat, and spray paint to meet customer standards. Additionally, you will prepare the system for painting by ensuring cleanliness, scraping, cleaning, and wrapping paint lines, as well as performing basic maintenance tasks on paint equipment.

**Responsibilities**

+ Prep and paint exterior sections, utilizing applicable paint work instructions to ensure quality and production needs are met.

+ Properly mix paint per customer specifications.

+ Manually mix zinc and apply to customer specifications.

+ Apply epoxy to exterior sections to customer specifications.

+ Properly mix and apply mist coat.

+ Prep the system for paint, including cleanliness review, scraping, cleaning, air blowing, and wrapping paint lines.

+ Use spray gun to paint sections to customer specifications.

+ Measure paint thickness with wet mill gauge.

+ Maintain paint system prior to painting operations.

+ Perform basic maintenance tasks on paint equipment, including cleaning and checking for leaks.

+ Paint with minimal quality issues such as runs, sags, dry spray, and pinholes.

+ Maintain cleanliness of work area.

+ Record job and section information in time matrix.

+ Actively support all EHS and continuous improvement initiatives.

+ Perform additional requests as needed.

**Essential Skills**

+ High school diploma or GED required.

+ One to three years of painting experience preferred with an airless paint system.

+ Knowledge of materials, production processes, quality, raw materials, and other techniques involved in painting steel support structures.

+ Understanding of painting equipment, including pump setup.

+ Ability to analyze cleanliness of sections and understand coding systems.

+ Ability to operate drum car, forklift, and pallet jack efficiently and independently.

+ Proficiency in using wet mill gauge, dual action sander, air drill, air wand, and grinder.

+ Understanding of spray gun position, pattern, overlap, and proper handling procedures.

+ Ability to locate and reference all work instructions related to current job or project.

+ Understanding of department KPIs, metrics, and measurables.

+ Sense of urgency and accountability.

+ Must pass respirator and paint test.

+ Must be forklift certified.

**Additional Skills & Qualifications**

+ Prior work-related experience is helpful.

+ Experience, training, and/or education in the painting of wind tower support structures approved by Management/Human Resources.

**Work Environment**

Work hours are from 5 am to 5 pm, Monday through Friday. The role involves physical demands such as sitting or standing for periods, walking, climbing, crawling, bending, kneeling, twisting, or stooping. You may be exposed to noise, dust, fumes, vibrations, high heat, humidity, intense cold, or outside elements. Personal protective equipment (PPE) is required in manufacturing areas. You may need to work at heights of more than 10 feet and occasionally lift and move up to 50 pounds.

**Job Type & Location**

This is a Contract position based out of Manitowoc, Wisconsin.

**Pay and Benefits**

The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $25.00/hr.
