This position exists to ensure the proper and efficient operation of all refrigeration systems and equipment, air conditioning systems and equipment, and HVAC systems and equipment throughout campus. This position is required to comply with MPCA and EPA regulations for refrigerant handling and recovery procedures. This position is listed in the Physical Plant Emergency Call Back Guidelines, and will, on occasion, be expected to respond to related emergency situations.Salary Range: $32.14 - $37.24 / hourly; $67,108 - $77,757 / annuallyMinimum QualificationsTwo (2) or more years of journey-level refrigeration mechanic experience in the maintenance and repair of major air conditioning and refrigeration systems, e.g., central air conditioning, window air conditioners, HVAC, and commercial refrigeration.Minimum two (2) years of experience working with pneumatic controls and/or building automation systems.Current certification for ?Universal Refrigeration Transition and Recovery.? Note: Appliance or Home refrigerator repair will not meet the minimum standardPreferred QualificationTwo (2) years of experience in the operation and maintenance of commercial heating and ventilating systems, air conditioning systems, chilled water, food storage, and all related mechanical equipment.Knowledge of and experience with computerized maintenance management systems (such as TMA).Computer experience sufficient to send and receive emails, view attachments, and order supplies through the storeroom supply ordering system.Demonstrated, thorough knowledge of all refrigeration codes as adapted by the State of Minnesota as well as OSHA and other recognized safety practices.This position is required by the Minnesota Department of Labor and Industry to have certification for a Registered Unlicensed Electrician. This certification is renewed annually. Must have the ability to manipulate small parts and use hand and power tools. As part of this work the incumbent must be able to align parts and install fasteners such as screws, bolts, nuts, and clamps.
