Job Summary:

Operator Shift Lead fills a leading role in the performance of quality and production. Instills company policies and follows safety requirements (PPE). Monitors delivery dates by cutting in accordance to Manufacturing Order's due dates and backlog. Must maintain 3-weeks ahead on Boeing Cargo-Liner (Chk1) and notifies PM or GM asap if this cannot be achieved. Helps assist other operators to load and/or unload machines, while operating their own machine if applicable. NEVER allows machines to sit at idle or turned off (required to inform PM or GM if additional help is needed to run machines). Works under supervision; directly reports to the Production Manager

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Arrives early to open the shop and turn on air compressor & machines and/or tie in with the other shift lead
  • Monitors employees to verify they are at their machine at starting time; deters employees from clocking in prior to start time and allowing them to walk around and socialize, use restrooms, eat or drink. Start time means the operators will be on their machines when the bell rings
  • Provide guidance and training to all operators through the oral and written test Ref: Pegasus waterjet and router tests
  • Before calling Maintenance: Diagnoses machine and pump problems as needed to maintain production
  • Requires operators to inspect their first part prior to going to QA for inspection; May conducts first part check / inspection when applicable
  • Audit & verify all the MO's are completed, and process inspection is completed
  • Promotes a successful attitude, confidence in leadership, and teamwork
  • Professional and courteous communication with all employees
  • Supports other leads and partners in their efforts to improve productivity, communications and morale
  • Answer ALL emails directed to them as soon as possible
  • Conducts annual reviews for his / her operators
  • Reprimands and praises his / her operators as needed
  • Ensures workplace safety and addresses safety issues promptly and completely
  • Enforces the 30 minutes clean up at the end of their shift
  • Adheres and has strictly enforces break and lunch schedules
  • Decides on station and timing of each operation to assure efficient use of tools and time.
  • Computes such data as dimensions, rotation speeds, and feed rates.
  • Operate Forklift and Crane

Supervisory Responsibilities

Directly supervises 5-10 employees during - First Shift. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and Two+ years related experience and/or training. Minimum 6-months experience running CHK 1 cargo-liner
  • Forklift Certification is a plus. Training Provided

Skills / Knowledge:

  • Excellent English communication skills (written & spoken)
  • Pass ALL machine tests: waterjet(s) and router(s)
  • Familiarization of all basic tools, deburr machines, and functions within the shop.
  • Familiar with lean manufacturing processes and standards
  • Ability to ready blueprints
  • Efficient with various measuring tools
  • Ability to multi task in a dynamic, fast moving environment
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize responsibilities
  • Must be a team player with a positive and professional disposition
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time, ability to bend and squat throughout an 8-hour shift
  • Able to lift 25 pounds repetitively throughout an 8-hour shift

MUST be VERY detail oriented, and able to take minimal direction
