Blasting Operator**

**Job Description**

As a Blasting Operator, you will be responsible for the basic sand blasting and cleaning of parts. You will load the machine and use a small sand blaster to clean parts and remove imperfections. We are seeking individuals with a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and good communication skills.

**Responsibilities**

+ Perform basic sand blasting and cleaning of parts.

+ Load machine and use small sand blaster to clean parts and remove imperfections.

+ Review and assimilate work instructions relating to racking, cleaning, and masking operations.

+ Conduct receiving inspections and report any damage or discrepancies before processing.

+ Perform manual shot peen operations using cast steel or hard (cut-wire) shot.

+ Test and measure shot media quality and performance, documenting results.

+ Inspect surfaces and part features tolerances post-peening to ensure compliance with specifications.

+ Gather supplies such as racks, tooling, baskets, carts, etc.

+ Rack and turn production parts for shot peening operations.

+ Clean production parts, including degreasing or manual solvent cleaning.

+ Work closely with inspectors and area leadership to complete work and prioritize tasks.

+ Clean, organize, and maintain work area as prescribed by supervision.

+ Complete documentation, count production parts, perform computer scanning, package, and transport parts.

**Essential Skills**

+ Good communication skills.

+ Basic mathematic skills: add, subtract, multiply, and divide using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

+ Understanding of basic geometry concepts for effective peening coverage.

+ Ability to properly use measuring and inspection equipment such as digital scales, feeler gauges, magnifiers.

+ Ability to stand for prolonged periods with limited movement.

**Additional Skills & Qualifications**

+ Experience with personal protective equipment (PPE) during tasks (goggles, safety glasses, aprons, boots, gloves, hearing protection).

+ Knowledge of safety directives and policies.

+ Ability to perform manual shot peen operations using cast steel or hard (cut-wire) shot.

**Work Environment**

The position is based in a production facility where you will be required to wear proper safety equipment for shot peen machine operations. Expect exposure to chemicals, solvents, occasional fumes, wet/humid conditions, low-level lighting, and moderate noise levels. Heavy lifting or the use of mechanical hoists may be required at times.

**Job Type & Location**

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Kent, Washington.

**Pay and Benefits**

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $20.00/hr.
