General Summary
Operates heavy equipment such as cranes, motor graders, heavy loaders, carryalls, bulldozers, backhoes, rollers, scrapers, and tractors.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Operate cranes as needed
- Operate equipment to excavate, load or move dirt, gravel or other materials
- Read and interpret grade and slope stakes and simple plans as necessary
- Grease, adjust and make emergency repairs to equipment as necessary
- Perform other duties as assigned
Knowledge, Experience and Skill Requirements
- Minimum of five (5) year's experience operating heavy equipment
- Minimum of one (1) year crane experience with proof of knowledge
- Must possess and maintain a valid Class A, Maryland driver's license; endorsements are a plus
- Current DMV printout required
- Must be able to pass NCC schooling and performance test for cranes
- Employer will enroll employee into DMV Pull Notice program
- Must be able to obtain a DOD security clearance
- Will be required to join Union within 90 days of non-temporary employment or transfer
Work Environment
- Working conditions may be both indoors and outdoors. Outdoor work is subject to extreme temperatures, noise, and inclement weather conditions and other conditions determined by the nature of the job. Tasks may be performed on uneven, inclined, hard and soft surfaces, cement structures and surfaces at variable heights.
- Steel toed safety shoes required to be worn at all times while on the job
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs., squat, bend, stoop and kneel for short periods
