Job Summary
Under the supervision of the Regional Director Facilities, the Supervisor of Facilities will oversee the Facilities team in the day-to-day operations of the Facilities department. Using exceptional organizational skills, proficient in current codes and regulations, keen knowledge of the hospital equipment and systems, the ability to communicate effectively both verbally and written (email), able to multi-task many high priority tasks simultaneously, and competent to work independently.
Coordinates the day-to-day operations of the Facilities Department; provide support to the staff, maintains staff calendar for the department and repair/project coverage, coordinate with clinical staff on repairs and project work in patient care areas. Knowledgeable and skilled to work in all trade areas as licenses allow.
Leads department Huddles to inform current conditions within the hospital, discuss Key Performance Indicators, announce upcoming events and education opportunities, and to respond to any immediate needs or concerns.
Manages the Building Management System (BMS) assignments for work order requests and scheduled work, and audits mechanics work assignments for efficiency, effectiveness and quality of work. Works with the BMS relating to daily tasks and long-term planning.
Oversee the Interim Life Safety Measures (ILSM) and Infection Control Risk Assessment (ICRA) policies and procedures for repairs and projects, coordinates the work and the staffing during in-house projects and keeps records for regulatory compliance. (ie: Hot Work Permits, Fire Alarm System Deactivation Log, Fire Watch)
Responsible for the Snow Crew (Facilities Technicians) response and coordinates the staffing, supplies and equipment for long-term weather events.
Assists with Environment of Care; for adherence to regulatory completion percentages of assigned work orders, responds to trends in deficiencies and attends Rounding as needed.
Maintains all facilities policies, procedures and plans.
Responds to inquiries from the main hospital and offsite locations to provide follow-up and customer service for complex inquiries, concerns, and complaints regarding services provided.
Communicates with vendors regarding repair, testing, inspections, reports and compliance documents. Assists with the development and proposals for small in-house projects and large Capital Projects. Provides support to Project Managers.
Works with the Director to effectively support the needs of the Facilities department and assumes responsibility when the Director is unavailable. Available during off hours for emergency Call In.
Performs additional duties as needed.
QualificationsProficiency in English required
High School/vocational school or equivalent required .
8 years experience in Plumbing, Electrical, Carpentry, HVAC and/or Power Plant Operations (OE2) required
Minimum of two years Supervisory experience and OSHA training required .
Knowledge of Building Management Systems and Work Order databases. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills required
P-1, E-1, D-1 or S-1 State of Connecticut license required .
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, Outlook and other systems preferred
Project Management experience preferred
