Job Description The Project Engineer will support project management teams in all phases of construction projects, from pre-construction through completion. This role requires a blend of technical knowledge, communication skills, and problem-solving abilities to ensure the successful execution of the project. The Project Engineer will be responsible for coordinating project logistics, managing documentation, supporting field operations, and ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards. Responsibilities
- Assist Project Managers with day-to-day management of construction projects, ensuring timely and cost-effective completion.
- Maintain project files, including contracts, change orders, RFIs (Requests for Information), submittals, and as-built drawings.
- Support in the coordination of subcontractors work, ensuring that schedules, quality standards, and safety protocols are adhered to.
- Ensure that the project is being built according to plans, specifications, and applicable building codes. Perform inspections and assist in identifying and resolving quality issues.
- Monitor safety practices and ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and company safety policies on site.
- Assist with ordering materials, tracking deliveries, and maintaining inventory to ensure the timely availability of materials.
- Conduct regular site visits to monitor construction progress, resolve issues, and facilitate communication between field personnel, subcontractors, and project managers.
- Support the preparation and processing of change orders by tracking project scope changes and documenting variations from the original contract.
- Assist in preparing progress reports, cost estimates, and schedules to update clients, senior leadership, and project stakeholders.
- Work closely with architects, engineers, contractors, and other project team members to address project challenges and keep the project moving forward.
- Minimum 2 years of experience as a Project Engineer.
- Proficiency in construction software such as Procore and Bluebeam.
- Hands-on experience with RFIs and submittals.
- Ability to read and interpret architectural and MEP plans.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with project teams, clients, and subcontractors.
- Ability to identify issues, think critically, and provide practical solutions to project challenges.
- A keen eye for detail and organization to manage complex project documentation and track project milestones.
- A commitment to upholding safety standards and ensuring safe working conditions on the job site.
- Bachelors degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field (preferred but not required).
- Experience with a General Contractor is ideal, but strong subcontractor experience in concrete or electrical is acceptable.
- Familiarity with BuildingConnected (used for preconstruction and bidding) is a plus.
- Estimating experience is a plus.
- Experience with commercial office buildouts, tenant improvements, and MEP-intensive projects such as labs or server rooms.
