at Turf Design in Chicago, Illinois, United States Job Description Architectural Specialties Senior CAD Designer (Turf Design, Inc., Chicago, IL) - Collaborate with clients, contractors, and design and production teams, designing interior product solutions at an architectural scale. Function as project owner at all stages, from initial kickoff in Design through to Production, and provide continued support as needed during and after installation. Works from a sketch, inspiration imagery, or construction documents to evaluate design intent, rationalize application, and develop solutions that can be easily manufactured and installed. Create proposal drawings and validate those proposals through prototypes, create shop drawings for client signoff, and develop documentation for manufacturing. Assist in the review of drawings and projects, ensuring the accuracy and quality of work at all stages. Develop proposals, shop drawings, installation drawings, engineering / BOM's, and all other documentation through the project lifecycle. Review incoming documents from client to ensure complete and accurate capture of scope and design intent. Verify product layout and application from received client documents, identifying areas of concern or issue. Communicate and document changes or modifications during the drawing process. Coordinate with estimating team for scope, pricing, and product accuracy on active projects, providing all necessary documentation to develop pricing on proposals and projects. Work with AS Project Coordinators on assigned projects keeping them informed of project statuses, questions, and needs. Assist in the review and handoff of engineering and production content. Validate through prototyping all customized solutions and their feasibility for mass manufacture. Document meeting notes and project updates from meetings, keep stakeholders informed, and incorporate changes into the project. Provide communication for product line details and specifications on standard products as it pertains to project. Answer questions pertaining to machining process, material constraints, hardware configurations, timing, etc. REQUIREMENTS: Master's or foreign equivalent degree in architecture, industrial design, or closely related field or a bachelor's or foreign equivalent degree in architecture, industrial design, or closely related field plus two years of experience in architecture or architectural product design.
