Job Summary/Objective: The Drafter creates engineering designs, drawings, and other technical information for use in construction as-built and design projects, adhering to customer specifications.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Draft construction documents for wireline and fiber construction sites in AutoCAD under the direction of a Project Manager.
  • Maintain project drawing files, drawing library, and associated records and documentation per company policies.
  • Complete close-out packages for customers, including as-built maps and fiber documentation.
  • Review and verify design drawings for accuracy and adherence to project specifications.
  • Collaborate with engineers and project managers to ensure timely completion of drafting tasks.
  • Participate in project meetings and provide updates on drafting progress.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Education and Experience:

  • Associate Degree preferred, or AutoCAD certification with demonstrated success in the functions outlined in the Essential Functions listed above.
  • 1-5 years of drafting experience.
  • Familiarity with industry standards and best practices in wireline and fiber construction design.

Additional Eligibility Qualifications:

  • Experience in the wireline or fiber construction industry designing equipment modification/modernization and new site development, or related industry, highly desired.
  • Knowledge of GIS software and tools is a plus.
  • Self-starter able to work with little to no supervision.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Competencies Required:

  • Experience performing field site audits for the collection of site data to draft/design construction documents.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs.
  • Proficient in reading and understanding wireline design sheets, surveys, site plans/layouts, electrical diagrams, erosion control plans, aerials, and fiber network details.
  • Ability to work within high-volume projects and stay on task to meet client deadlines.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot issues independently.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Work Environment/Physical Demands/Travel Required:

  • Office controlled climate.
  • Sitting for long periods of time.
  • Occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds may be required.
  • Potential for remote or hybrid work arrangements based on project needs and company policies.
