Summary of Job Duties: High Voltage Electrician is responsible for performing routine and emergency maintenance of campus primary 12.47 kV electrical distribution systems to minimize unscheduled outages and equipment failures and to maintain or restore service promptly. This position works with Utility Operations to schedule, coordinate, and support alterations and additions to campus primary electrical distribution systems in a safe, efficient, and skillful manner. This position will oversee a complex system, lead projects, teams and manage work independently.Regular, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job function of this job, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others.
Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
The formal education equivalent of a high school diploma
Valid Arkansas Electrician Journeyman License
At least 6 years of experience in the electrical trade
Valid Driver's License
Preferred Qualifications:
Valid Arkansas Master Electrician License
At least 10 years of experience in the electrical trade
Experience with medium and high voltage systems and industrial controls (draw out breakers, protective relays, VFDs, PLCs, etc.)
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Knowledge of methods, best practices, safety procedures, laws, and regulations relating to Utility Plant Operations and Mechanical Code
Ability to read blueprints, manuals, schematics, building plans, and one line drawings
Ability to use power tools, machinery, and hand tools associated with skilled trades
Ability to evaluate situations and make good decisions based on sound judgment
Must be able to work varying hours and be able to work for extended periods of time when necessary
Must be able to lift 50lbs, stand for extended periods, open/close valves, reach overhead, and bend at the waist and knees
Knowledge and use of a CMMS/Work Order Management system, mobile technology
Basic understanding of Microsoft Office programs e.g., Email and spreadsheets
Provide technical guidance and support to junior staff or apprentices
