JOB SUMMARY:

Clean, prepare, paint and detail machines, parts, and components.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Prep complete machine including large mining equipment. Prep surfaces through wash, large decal removal, sanding, buffing, and grit blasting to ensure a like new finish.
  • Proficiently apply of bondo, fiberglass and glaze to repair damaged surfaces restoring a like new finish.
  • Safely and correctly remove and install equipment handrails, guards, grilles, and lights.
  • Complete quality application of paint products/application processes at heights and odd spray angles.
  • Proficiently apply a high-quality paint finish on a complete machine. Maintain a complete knowledge and proficient application of Caterpillar Class A paint standards on rebuilt equipment to ensure a like new finish.
  • Apply multiple types of paint products to the interior of cabs, at odd spray angles and ensure a like new finish.
  • Correctly and efficiently apply multiple color paint schemes on complete equipment.
  • Correctly and efficiently apply large decals covering multiple surface square feet.
  • Maintain equipment for Utility wash rack, grit blasting and Paint shop.
  • Monitor and order supplies for the Utility wash rack, grit blasting and the Paint shop.
  • Wash and detail complete equipment, cabs, and components at a show quality standard for client delivery, demonstration, Empire functions. Clean equipment and components to a level meeting regulations of international transport.
  • Safely operate construction and large mining equipment within the facility.
  • Navigate service information systems to identify and order the correct decals and safety labeling required for specific machine models and applications.
  • Safely and efficiently coordinate the transport of large components and machine frames in excess of 40,000 pounds.
  • Consistently in a clean manner and maintain contamination control standards.
  • Perform thorough quality control inspections prior to the delivery of equipment.
  • Work safely at all times. Adhere to all applicable safety policies. Comply with all company policies, procedures, and standards.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Order supplies.
  • Submit necessary reports, records, and data.
  • Accurately estimate/quote complete specialty paint jobs.
  • Operate machines and vehicles.
  • Own and maintain personal required tools.
  • Work within and promote corporate values.
  • Be a mentor and train entry level painters and wash rack employees.
  • Coordinate workflow and guide junior employees in place of lead.

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Skills required in commercial spray painting.
  • Skills required in biding and estimating paint jobs.
  • Must have working knowledge of cleaning, surface preparation and spray-painting operations.
  • Must be able to operate machines and power equipment.
  • Must be able to climb on large machines.
  • Must be able to meet all safety requirements for applicable safety policies and use of all required safety equipment.
  • Must have acceptable attendance to meet all company standards and requirements.
  • Interpersonal communication skills.
  • Must be a motivated self-starter.
  • In-depth computer skills, ability to navigate Windows programs and web-based applications, including SIS, CAT, SPI, and DBS.
  • Knowledge of proper installation and placement of safety decals on Caterpillar equipment as identified through the system.
  • Understanding of and ability to maintain Caterpillar contamination control standards.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Proof of high school diploma or General Education Degree (GED).
  • Must be able to obtain forklift operator license.
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in industrial painting.
  • Must be able to communicate (speak, read, comprehend, write) in English.

  • Corrective glasses and/or goggles must not interfere with the seal of the face piece to the face of the employee.
  • The employee must not have facial hair that comes between the sealing surface of the face piece and the face.

  • The noise level in the work environment is usually office moderate.
