We are currently seeking a Health and Safety Manager. This leadership role provides strategic direction and oversight at our two locations in Eden Prairie and Chaska and will report to the VP of engineering and maintenance. The Health and Safety Manager will be an integral part of the operations team responsible for driving a safety culture and implementing health and safety-focused initiatives to identify and mitigate risks effectively. This role provides strategic direction and oversight to two locations' health and safety initiatives.

Job Responsibilities and Duties

The Health and Safety Manager will be successful by fulfilling the following job responsibilities, duties, and core competencies.

  1. Compliance and training
  • Ensure the company complies with all the federal and state OSHA regulations
  • Serve as a point of contact for inspections by regulatory agencies, minimize deficiencies and ensure proper corrective actions are implemented
  • Conduct safety training and presentations for health and safety matters and accident

  • Ensure training requirements are planned, communicated and completed
  1. Safety program management
  • Evaluate practices, procedures, and facilities to assess risk and adherence to the law
  • Practice safe working techniques and re-enforce the safety policies, guidelines, and procedures as set out by the organization
  • Prepare and enforce policies to establish a culture of health and safety
  • Maintain and update as needed SOP's for all safe work practices and equipment
  • Lead the Emergency Response Team
  • Report on health and safety awareness, issues, and statistics
  • Ownership and management of the Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Programs
  • Partner with Human Resources regarding Worker's Compensation, including but not limited to claims filing, claims management, post-accident testing, reviewing reports of workability, and assessing return to work plans
  1. Championing safety culture
  • Implement and maintain safety standards and processes that drive a culture of safety throughout the organization
  • Drive ownership of safety by department heads for their respective departments
  • Build engagement in the safety culture through implementation of training and support for the safety committees
  • Provide training and coaching to cross-functional groups on how to inspect equipment and machinery and to observe possible unsafe conditions
  1. Continuous process improvement:
  • Standardize disciplined Root Cause Analysis and follow-up on all near misses, first aid and recordable(s)
  • Investigate accidents or incidents to discover causes
  • Recommend solutions to issues, improvement opportunities or new prevention measures
  • Sustain and identify improvements for the near miss and 5S programs5. Perform other work as assigned.

Qualification and Skill Requirements

  • Health and safety program management experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • 8-10 years of progressive experience in health and safety
  • Minimum 3 years of leadership experience
  • Manufacturing industry experience required
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate across different levels and functions
  • Ability to lead and influence across various levels of the organization
  • Ability to build relationships effectively with all levels of the organization
  • Demonstrated ability to build trust and confidence with stakeholders and influence change
