Daikin Applied is seeking a Design Engineer. The Design Engineer will assist in and lead the development of primary systems and sub-systems of commercial HVAC equipment. They will collaborate with cross-functional team members, driving towards releasing innovative HVAC products. Location: Staunton, VA - Hybrid

What you will do:

Develop electro-mechanical products of significant complexity, supporting program quality, cost, and schedule

Develop test plans and perform testing of components, sub-systems, and total systems, supporting performance, reliability, and industry certification

Work cross-functionally with groups such as design, test, manufacturing, sales, and supply chain to ensure product design meets business needs

Support the execution of the new product development phase-gate process, demonstrating appropriate design maturity and growth across various milestones

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience

2+ years of related experience

Understanding of mechanical concepts such as thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, structures, materials

Hands-on experience testing electro-mechanical equipment

Ability to effectively communicate technical information to an audience in a presentation setting

Capabilities with PLM (Product Lifecycle Management) tools

Knowledge of cross-functional groups such as Controls, Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Design, Quality, etc.

Understanding of New Product Development processes

Knowledge of Lean principles

Project management capabilities with the ability to estimate work tasks and support project planning activities

Knowledge of engineering tools and analysis methods such as DOE, DFMEA, DVP&R

Knowledge of vapor compression cycle

Capabilities in modeling/simulation tools such as MATLAB, ANSYS, VapCyc, etc.

Knowledge of systems engineering and architecture

The typical annual base salary for this position ranges from $62,000 - $120,700 in Virginia. The range displayed represents the pay range for all positions in the job grade which this position falls. Individual base pay will depend on a wide range of factors including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
