Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking a Principal / Sr. Principal Mechanical Engineer . This position is located in Roy, UT and supports the Sentinel program.
What Youll Get to Do:Collaborate with stakeholders to decompose technical requirements, develop complete and verifiable requirements, and conduct trade studies
Generate and update specifications as part of a Systems Engineering framework for the purpose of releasing to suppliers and supporting the procurement process
Develop design and analysis artifacts to support design reviews, customer deliverables, and hardware procurement workflows
Perform heating and cooling calculations to size HVAC equipment
Select appropriate HVAC equipment to meet size and system requirements
Review and provide comments to supplier-submitted drawings and contractual deliveries

This positions standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off. This role may offer a competitive relocation assistance package.
You'll Bring These Qualifications:This position may be filled at either a Principal or Sr. Principal level - determined by overall qualifications and years of relevant work experience:
Principal Mechanical Engineer : Bachelors degree in a STEM field (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) and with 5 years of experience; or Master's degree with 3 years of experience; PhD with 1 years of experience
Sr. Principal Mechanical Engineer : Bachelors degree in a STEM field (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) and with 8 years or experience; or Master's degree with 6 years of experience; PhD with 4 years of experience
Both levels require the following:
Must have US citizenship with the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance
Must have the ability to obtain, and maintain access to Special Access Programs (SAP) as a condition of continued employment.
Must be proficient with Microsoft Office tools - PowerPoint, Excel, Word
Ability to understand and interpret requirements
Must be able to work independently, function in a dynamic environment, and be flexible to changing direction
These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have:
Masters degree in Mechanical Engineering
Experience with Environmental Control Systems (ECS) and Heating, Ventilation, and Air conditioning (HVAC) system design and verification
Experience with Carrier HAP, NX, and Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) software
Familiarity with Systems Engineering and Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) processes
Professional Engineer (PE) license
Experience with estimation, bidding, proposals, or RFPs
Experience managing a subcontractor
Secondary Level Salary Range: $107,800.00 - $161,800.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
