Support new technologies and mass production developments by generating new technical ideas and maturing concept designs and drawings to meet established specifications and guidelines. The key purpose is to maintain high quality and customer satisfaction, primarily in the Power Products category.
Responsibilities
- Guide or establish the generation of high-level drawings representing key technologies that meet specification targets using 3D CAD Software.
- FTA/FMEA, Drawing Issue Processing (Endeavor), and adhering to appropriate guidelines, standards, and regulations.
- Facilitate prototype generation, engineering estimates, supplier negotiations, factory assembly confirmations, and mass production specification setting with these drawings.
- Support on-site activities such as prototype builds and collaborate with research members to address test-related concerns and implement design countermeasures.
- Support small project teams to meet development targets and schedules by ensuring deadlines are achieved, coordinating resource needs with supervisors, and effectively utilizing contractor resources.
- Communicate project status and actively participate in project meetings, discussions, and development events.
- Establish bill of materials to track impacts of new technologies, features, and components using cost tables, cost simulation software, and supplier quoting to maintain project team cost targets.
- Develop basic ideas to improve competitiveness by product features, technologies, or factory/development efficiency, using problem-solving methods to analyze root causes, develop and implement corrective measures, and support recurrence prevention.
Essential Skills
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in a related field.
- 3 years of engineering experience, preferably in Power Products or Powersports.
- Strong ability to work well within small development teams.
- Effective interaction and communication skills with staff and management.
- Ability to operate with a high level of confidentiality.
- Competency in FTA, FMEA, dimensional tolerance stack-ups, and application.
- Competent analytical, problem-solving, judgment, decision-making, and prioritization skills.
- Competent drawing and layout skills/techniques, including understanding of CAE principles.
- Competency in creating plans and schedules and understanding product development schedules.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- 5+ years of strong Catia design experience (will consider other 3D CAD packages).
- Plastic injection mold and die casting experience.
- Motor design, engine design, powertrain design, and belt design experience preferred.
- Tolerance stack-ups, FEA, stress analysis, and running calculations.
- DFMEA (Design Failure Mode Effects Analysis) and FMEA/FTA experience.
- Electrical experience is a plus.
- New product development experience.
- Strong modeling experience and FEA analysis.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $31.50 - $50.00/hr.
